In a recent interview on PRMM, Ken Molay of Webinar Success shares some insight on webinars. In his years of writing about webinars, Ken has seen attendance rates drop from 50-60% to an average of 33%.

	To combat this, Ken recommends:

"Companies who host webinars need to 'up their game' and concentrate on creating value for their attendees in both content and presentation."

He also shares three things marketers should consider when using webinars for their programs:

Frame everything in terms of audience interest and benefits.

Don't take a successful webinar over the top until you reach "list exhaustion."

Turning attendees into prospects is greatly influenced by your speed of response after the event.

Ken's suggestions for marketers may seem like common sense, but people fall into the trap over and over again.

Audience interest and benefits: We love talking about what we do. S why wouldn't everyone else enjoy it too?

Unfortunately, in the same way we like talking about what we do, others like to focus on their interests and areas. If your webinar doesn't appeal to them, it doesn't matter how interesting it is to you, and they won't feel inspired to attend.

List exhaustion: Makes sense, take something that "works" and repeat it over and over.

Sadly, it's hard to see when that should end. People already have an incredible amount of content to pick from. If you appear to be just running on replay, there's little interest. Fresh content is important for your web marketing efforts, apply the same rule to your webinars.

Conversion: It seems everyone is offering webinars.

That's great for attendees, giving them a great variety to choose from. As the company offering webinars, it makes your challenge even more difficult. If you were able to get them attend your webinar, don't let the connection cool. Your webinar may have been wedged into their schedule on a day chock full of meetings. So… get back to them quickly.

Ken also says that as usage becomes more common, presenters spend less time and effort on preparation and that companies who host webinars need to “up their game” and concentrate on creating value for their attendees in both content and presentation.

And in my humble opinion, these are two of the most important points made in the article.

If you've been reading my stuff for any length of time, you already know that I am constantly encouraging my readers and customers to spend some time planning ahead and put together presentations that are content rich, educational, entertaining, and above all else interactive.

Not sure how to accomplish all this? Check out my Webinar Best Practices article and video about keeping your audience engaged with interactive presentations.

Ken shared some really great advice in this interview. You can read the full interview here.

What do you do to deliver value and avoid audience dissatisfaction?

Web Meet Live recently announced that all new and existing customers who have a 15 user unlimited monthly use web conference room account (or higher) will receive 3 additional breakout meeting rooms absolutely free!

This is exciting news for those who have a need for multiple conference rooms for on the fly breakout sessions, as well as for those who simply need additional meeting rooms for specific uses.

For example, in addition to your main meeting room, you can use another for personal coaching and consulting, another for student study groups, and still have yet another you can set up for live customer support on your website, just like on the Web Meet Live contact page!

The following demonstration video was produced as a supplement to a Web Meet Live product demonstration webinar I hosted on July 15, 2010. If you were unable to attend, and you would like to view the 50 minute recorded webcast in its entirety, you can watch it here!

Are you causing undo frustration for your website visitors by hiding behind an online help desk or email support system?

Wait… Before you answer, let me expand on that with another question…

Are you losing potential customers because it's too hard for your website visitors to contact you?

Based on my own web browsing experience and "information seeking" habits, I would have to say the answer to both of these questions (in many cases) is a resounding YES!

That is if you are making it hard for your prospective customers to actually speak with you, or to a live customer support rep (a.k.a. a real person).

With all the cool "hands off" automation tools, help desk software, online trouble ticket and automated follow up systems we have available these days, many business owners seem to think that doing business online does not require talking to prospects.

Your web site visitors are your prospects… are they not?

The purpose of your website is to engage those prospects… is it not?

Think about your own pre-purchase buying habits for just a minute.

Don't you sometimes find it necessary to speak with someone to get your questions answered before making a decision to buy something online?

Providing great pre-sales support, as well as great customer support isn't rocket science. It's common sense!

So why do so many online business owners make it impossible for their potential customers to contact and speak to them?

	Beats me!

The following video shows how I personally use web conferencing to offer live customer support on our main web site at www.WebMeetLive.com.

	Enjoy!

I know this might be a stupid question. But…

Have you ever put together a powerpoint presentation, an html slide show (or any other type of presentation materials) and then realized you had typos, dead hyperlinks or images not displaying properly?

If you're like me, I'm sure you have. And although it is mostly just an annoyance to have to go back and fix these problems, it's really not such a big deal.

But what if you didn't notice that your presentation had problems before your live webinar event?

What if you didn't notice these problems until you were well into your live event and had already started recording?

Or even worse, what if you didn't notice these problems until you had already published your recorded webinar or webcast for all the world to see?

I think it would be safe to say that unless you are able to dynamically update the content within your webcast recordings, you've probably just thrown a lot of time, effort and energy out the window.

And more than likely, you'd have to do it all over again!

A few additional question to think about…

What if your recorded presentation slides contain URLs to other people's websites? And what if at some point, through no fault of your own, those URLs change or become invalid?

After all, companies and individuals do update their websites from time to time, and a web page that's here today may very well be gone tomorrow. I see it happen all the time…

	Don't you?

The good news is that I have a solution to all of these possible problems that is truly awesome and amazing.

That's because, unlike the other web conference service providers (i.e. WebEx and GoToMeeting) who only allow you to share your computer screen, Web Meet Live's synchronized browsing feature allows you to display live web pages during your webinars and online training events.

And believe it or not, the recordings produced within our online web conference rooms actually display your live web pages right in your recordings.

What this means is that you can update any web page displayed within your webinar and webcast recordings any time you want!

Hence… your Web Meet Live recordings can be dynamically updated!

The video below will show you how simple it is to dynamically update the content within your Web Meet Live recordings. The only thing is you must do is say bye bye to powerpoint! And in my opinion, that's a good thing for a number of reasons.

So before you watch the video below…

You should definitely check out a couple of my previous posts called, "Why you should use HTML for webinar presentations instead of Powerpoint." AND "Webinar Best Practices: How to engage your prospects with web meetings."

Then watch the following training video…

In many industries, tradeshows and live hotel meetings no longer pack the same punch they used to. It doesn't take a masters degree in marketing to realize that Web-based conferencing technology has raised the bar for engaging prospects and converting them into customers.

Not to mention that in today's economic climate, many entrepreneurs and companies have come to realize that it is a complete waste of time (not to mention a huge waste of money) to fly dozens of people to one location to watch a powerpoint presentation.

Obviously, web seminars (a.k.a. webinars) enable organizations to instantly interact with large groups of students, customers and prospects at once, effectively delivering targeted messages, while at the same time save thousands of dollars in unnecesarry travel expenses.

I have personally been hosting online training and sales webinars since 1998. I have learned many things over the years. But I'd have to say that the single most important webinar best practice is that you absolutely must engage your audience!

In my humble opinion, if you want to host webinars, you must try to duplicate the same excitement, speak with the same enthusiasm, engage and interact with your audience in the same way you would at a live hotel event. After all, web 2.0 prospects need human interaction too!

Admittedly, it is a little tough to pull off because in a webinar environment, all you really have to keep your audience's attention is your voice and your presentation materials.

The following webinar best practices video will show you several ways to keep your audience engaged using simple web page slide shows, pre-recorded videos, polling and more:

In closing, you absolutely can gain a competitive edge with Webinars.

But always keep this in mind…

Your prospects are receiving hundreds of marketing messages every day and expect more engaging communication from you throughout the buying cycle. Don't bore your prospects to death!

Web Meet Live makes it a snap to host truly interactive, online webinar events. For more information about Web Meet Live, please don't hesitate to contact us today!

The following is an excerpt from a article I found about “Content Repurposing” at www.encyclopedia.jrank.org. It was obviously written by a propeller head. But you should definitely read it.

	http://encyclopedia.jrank.org/articles/pages/6565/Content-Repurposing-for-Small-Devices.html

Here’s that excerpt, followed by my interpretation of what the article actually says, along with a video that will show you how you can repurpose your recorded webinars (a.k.a. webcasts) to look pretty good on a PDA (hand held device)…

“Content repurposing is the reorganizing of data for presentation on different display hardware (Singh, 2004). It has been particularly important recently with the growth of handheld devices such as personal digital assistants (PDAs), sophisticated telephones, and other small specialized devices.

Unfortunately, such devices pose serious problems for multimedia delivery. With their tiny screens (150 by 150 for a basic Palm PDA or 240 by 320 for a more modern one, vs. 640 by 480 for standard computer screens), one cannot display much information (i.e., most of a Web page); with their low bandwidths, one cannot display video and audio transmissions from a server (i.e., streaming) with much quality; and with their small storage capabilities, large media files cannot be stored for later playback.

Furthermore, new devices and old ones with new characteristics have been appearing at a high rate, so software vendors are having difficulty keeping pace. So some real-time, systematic, and automated planning could be helpful in figuring how to show desired data, especially multimedia, on a broad range of devices…”

	In Plain English?

Most content that is viewable on the web, including a full screen webcast, is too big to fit on a tiny screen!

This video below will give you a push in the right direction, as far as a “Re-recording and Repurposing Your Webcasts To Look Good On Those Tiny Little Screens”

I use Camtasia Studio to produce all my screen capture videos. For me it has been totally worth the $300 I paid for the software. You can get a 30 day free trial here. However, if you are on a tight budget, you can get free screen capture recording software at CamStudio.org.

“Web Meet Live does not compete with WebEx, GoToWebinar, Live Meeting, or any other web conferencing service provider. We are a different type of solution that organizations turn to after those products fail to meet their accessibility and ease of use requirements.”

I'd like to start this post by telling you that according to a recent FCC study, 33% of Americans (that's 93 million) don't use fast Internet, citing cost and complexity as a factor in their refusal to enter the 20th century.

You can read the entire FCC study here if you like.

You might be asking… What does this have to do with a web conferencing comparison? And I'll get to that in just a few seconds.

But what you really should be asking yourself right now are two simple questions…

Does your web conference service provider support dial up and satellite users?
And if the answer is NO…

Do you really want to exclude 93 million dial up and satellite users from attending your online meetings?

I don't know how you feel about it, but 1/3 of the US population seems like a lot of potential customers, students and coaching clients to me. Call me crazy, but it seems to me that no matter what web conferencing service you use, it doesn't make a lot of sense to leave 33% of your potential prospects out in the cold.

But the fact is if you're using WebEx, GoToMeeting, or any other peer to peer web conferencing service, that is exactly what you are doing. And this study only includes US residents. Who knows what the numbers are in other parts of the world?

Anyway… you obviously came here to see some sort of comparison, and this is probably not what you expected. But if you're really serious about comparing web conferencing services, I truly believe you have to start with comparing accessibility. So I've created a couple of videos for you to watch. If you'd like to see a pricing and features comparison chart, you can take a look here.

I must warn you. These are extremely boring to watch. I know, I practically fell asleep while I was recording them!

Here's that first video…

This one's even worse than the last one!
