Web Conferencing Comparison: Are your web meetings accessible?

“Web Meet Live does not compete with WebEx, GoToWebinar, Live Meeting, or any other web conferencing service provider. We are a different type of solution that organizations turn to after those products fail to meet their accessibility and ease of use requirements.”

I'd like to start this post by telling you that according to a recent FCC study, 33% of Americans (that's 93 million) don't use fast Internet, citing cost and complexity as a factor in their refusal to enter the 20th century.

You can read the entire FCC study here if you like.

You might be asking… What does this have to do with a web conferencing comparison? And I'll get to that in just a few seconds.

But what you really should be asking yourself right now are two simple questions…

  1. Does your web conference service provider support dial up and satellite users?
And if the answer is NO…

  2. Do you really want to exclude 93 million dial up and satellite users from attending your online meetings?

I don't know how you feel about it, but 1/3 of the US population seems like a lot of potential customers, students and coaching clients to me. Call me crazy, but it seems to me that no matter what web conferencing service you use, it doesn't make a lot of sense to leave 33% of your potential prospects out in the cold.

But the fact is if you're using WebEx, GoToMeeting, or any other peer to peer web conferencing service, that is exactly what you are doing. And this study only includes US residents. Who knows what the numbers are in other parts of the world?

Anyway… you obviously came here to see some sort of comparison, and this is probably not what you expected. But if you're really serious about comparing web conferencing services, I truly believe you have to start with comparing accessibility. So I've created a couple of videos for you to watch. If you'd like to see a pricing and features comparison chart, you can take a look here.

I must warn you. These are extremely boring to watch. I know, I practically fell asleep while I was recording them!

Here's that first video…

This one's even worse than the last one!
